Excellent. The Watchtower gang includes every JW that makes up every world wide report each year. Even the sweetest most humble are culpable for the heinous crimes committed by the gangrenous monsters governing from the ivory towers of BetHell.

Terrific movie monologue from "Three Billboards Outside Ebbings, Missouri'
by Captain Schmideo2 injust watched this movie last night.. the premise of the title and film centers around the mother of young girl, who was raped, murdered, and set on fire by an unknown killer.
convinced that the local police could be doing more, she erects billboards outside of town, calling into question the efforts of the town's beloved chief of police.
this does not sit well with the other townspeople, and soon, the town priest comes to visit and admonish her.and after hearing him tell her if she came to church more regularly, she would be able to find the peace and resolution she needs over her daughter's death, she delivers this speech to him:.

This probably sounds uppity. I'm saying it anyhow
by stillin inhas anybody else noticed a pattern that is here among us outcasts?
there seems to be, on average, a higher level of intelligence here than there is at the kingdom hall.
actually, intelligent conversation seems to be looked down upon among the witnesses.. also, the simple language skills found here seem to be above average compared to those among the witnesses.

I just had two JW women come to my door 30 minutes ago. I’m in a new place and this is the first time they have called.
I looked at them and felt extremely exhausted how much effort it would take to wake them from their vacuous state.
I’ve debated bands of elders and COs and agro elderettes at my door many times.
But today I didn’t have the energy for it. I felt it useless. Drones. Zombies. Vacuous.
All I could muster was I am disfellowshipped, I am an apostate in your eyes, please mark my house as a do not call.
Then I felt guilty. I just dismissed those young minds assuming their intelligence couldn’t keep up.
In reality I was just tired and lazy.
So I saw this thread and had already formed an opinion based on my deplorable behavior.
Its hard to stay on the A game.

I would hesitate to get ahead of myself in this line of reasoning. Generalizations can certainly be made. There may even be hard data that illustrates poor education levels among professed JWs. After all aspirations usually top out at regular pioneer or Bethel service. Good grades in school are not necessary. College is not encouraged.
Yet, there is an undeniably percentage of active JWs that are highly educated and financially secure because of it. Certain congregations are noted for the level of prosperity simply by the cars parked in the lot.
Education and thinking abilities are not all it takes to “wake up” or escape from the cult.
In my experience some of the simplest minds were able to break free first.
Before we pat ourselves on the back, I think we have to acknowledge that even extremely intelligent people can be controlled by undue influence.
If we assume this shit eating grin stance, it might be more than the effort we want to waste in rescuing “ignorant” ones from the cult.
There are watchtower apologists that could eat most everyone for breakfast in this forum or others. Ask yourself, are you up to the task to take them on? Sure they are few and far between, but don’t get lazy assuming everyone still stuck in the cult is stupid.

CO working at Walmart
by the girl next door init just took me by surprise.
i remember him from a decade or so ago.
he came up with gems like, “weddings are for women, they are not necessary.” also, “if you want to be truly happy, marry an ugly woman.”.

Exactly. I have nothing against Walmart greeters as well. But it’s all context.
This man literally altered life choices with his perceived prominence as a CO.
Now he is a minor annoyance or pleasure for shoppers.
How many millions wasted possible talents or abilities or qualities being a WT zombie? I venture to say every single one of us.

It makes me sad. Even when I thought he was a complete ass. Everyone looked at his wife when he said marry an ugly woman. I wondered how she really felt beneath the canned smile. And everyone laughed like he was comedic genius.
Greeting at Walmart. Former CO for the WTBTS. Walmart Greeter. Do active COs have any clue that armeggedon won’t save them? It’s all so ironic. A whole new generation of 50 something COs on a collision course with Walmart.
They may deserve it but it still makes me sad. I wish they could taste the sheer joy and freedom and growth that comes from escaping the clutches of a coercive mind controlling cult.

I kid you not.
He must be at least 80 years old. Now a greeter at Walmart.

Do You Ever Think Of ALL The Wasted Time Because You Were a JW?
by minimus inthe longer you are out the more you see how a cult steals all your time, resources and energy.
we wasted so much because we were witnesses!
👎.

I immediately go to thoughts of other former JWs that were shackled far longer and realize it is self pitying to dwell on minutes personally wasted or opportunities missed. Whoever or wherever we are in life there will be wasted time and prospects. What matters is the present. Putting regrets and anger behind is imperative to finding a more positive future. Even on the worst day of that journey, it's comforting to know without doubt that day is better than a day stuck in a cult.

Went to a Different Kind of Convention This Year
by Saethydd inmy old congregation's regional convention was the week before last, and for the first time in 20 years, i wasn't there.
instead on the very same weekend, i went to a geeky fan convention called magic city con.
i had loads of fun there, i cosplayed as a jedi and the doctor (which is my current profile pic).

Star Wars and ComiCon. Only conventions I attend religiously wherever they are held. Best times and people I have ever encountered in my life.

Good. You have both made the wisest choice in your lifetime.
If you ever doubt it or have second thoughts, post more threads. :)
